Gajendra Verma : Whose “Emptiness” Gave Us Fulfillment

“Tune mere jaanaa, Kabhi nahi jaanaa…..” who doesn’t love this song. This song became heartbreak anthem for millennials. Today we all know the name GAJENDRA VERMA, but he hasn’t always been this famous. This hit song that we know with the name “Emptiness” or “Tune mere Jaana” was actually leaked online with a fake story. Of course, you know the story, who doesn’t know the story.

It was 2008, Gajendra Verma was studying Audio Engineering and one fine day, he recorded this beautiful song in his college studio. Before he could do something with the song, this song was stolen and circulated online with the singer’s name being “Rohan Rathore” and a heart-wrenching story along with it. According to the story, this song was created by an IIT Guwahati student, who died of cancer, and this was the first and last song that he wrote for a girl who rejected him. And damn, the teenagers of that time, this song spread like wildfire. Everyone was listening to it, ON LOOP. YouTube was a luxury back then and I remember sneaking my phone inside the school to get the song via Bluetooth. And since teenage is high time for getting your heart broken easily, I myself was a victim of this beautiful song and spent days with this song on my mind.

He later re-recorded the song and released a music video from a youtube channel called SONOTEK. In the same year, he also released a few more, equally beautiful songs, like “Phir Suna and “Sun Mere”. If you haven’t heard these songs, my friend, its time to wake up! I can guarantee, you won’t be disappointed.

His big break came his way in 2012 when he got a chance to sing a song called “Mann Mera” for the Bollywood movie “Table no.21”. In 2014, he sang for Bollywood again, the song “Baarish” in the movie “Yaariyaan”. Since then there has been no looking back for him. He started making more songs and the videos are equally touching. He also collaborated with writer Durjoy Dutta and created a promotional song for the book “Hold my Hand”. The song was named “Tujhse door jo hota hun”. And later that year he also created one of his best songs (and my favorite) “Tera Hi Rahun”. This song has magic.

His songs have something which touches our hearts in a very different way. His latest hits include “Tera Ghata” (220 million views) and “Yaad Karke” (8 Million views).

His journey has been an incredible one and surely tells us why we should never give up on our dreams.
