How Brad Pitt Got Fight-Ready For His Role In ‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood’

‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood’ already hit the theatres and the performance of the movie has been record-breaking. The actors of the film are gaining a lot of appreciation because of their strong acting. Brad Pitt, the 55 years old actor gave an applaudable performance in the movie. He played the character of Cliff Booth who is a stuntman. In order to be a stuntman, Brad Pitt had to put a lot of efforts in getting his body fight-ready, and his hard work did pay off as the actor has received impressive responses for his remarkable performance.

Brad Pitt is already famous for his ability to keep himself fit all the time. Popular for his shirtless scenes in the movies the actor widened his fanbase since his role as Tyler Durden in Fight Club. The journey of his notable appearances with his athletic physique started since then. In the opinion of Brad Pitt’s trainer, he is not just a man of looks but he likes to keep an athletic body too. The actor trains consistently even when he is not working in movies.

Talking about his role in the latest movie, ‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood’ as a stuntman, he required more than just a fitness training. The actor also had to learn martial arts for his character Cliff Booth. Rob Alonzo was his veteran fighter coordinator who made him practice martial arts at all times of the play. Zoe Bell who was the stunt supervisor set up the training room in Los Angeles by the movie’s production offices.

According to Alonzo, he didn’t focus on making Pitt learn the choreography of his fight scenes, instead, he believed that he should train the actor authentically in martial arts so that he can learn as much as possible for his role. In the words of Rob Alonzo, “I didn’t want him just going through the motions. I knew that if Brad learned the principles of martial arts, like timing, spatial awareness, and range, he would be able to flow in the scenes much more naturally like a real fighter would.”

Explaining his routine, Alonzo mentioned that they began their day with a dynamic warmup or as he likes to call it “yoga for combat”. The more challenging part of the routine starts when they try martial arts positions like horse stance, back stance, and front stance. As the character of Brad Pitt in the movie was a war veteran in World War ll who carries weapons like knives, Alonzo practiced Filipino martial arts with him. And according to him Brad Pitt really loved getting into the Filipino stick work.

To take a break from martial arts, the duo also used to do some traditional mitt work. Apart from this they also enhanced his boxing abilities by incorporating hammer fits. All this training and hard work of Brad Pitt result in earning him a lot of praise and admiration from the people all over the world.
